3 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Tour
Day 1: Pick-up and transfer to Ruhengeri.
On your first day with us, our representative will pick you up from the airport or your accommodation in Kigali, as per this schedule. You will be taken on a city tour, including visits to the Rwanda genocide memorial grounds and artisan stores, and your driving guide will educate you on Rwandan culture and history. You will also be served lunch, depending on your arrival time. After exploring Kigali, you will go to your accommodation near Volcanoes National Park, the habitat of these endangered animals, to recover and prepare for the trip the following morning.
The travel from Kigali to Ruhengeri will take roughly 2 and a half hours. Dinner and overnight at Five Volcanoes (luxury), Le Bambou (midrange), and Muhabura Hotel (budget).
Day 2: Gorilla Trek at Volcanoes National Park.
You will be asked to get up at 6 a.m. for breakfast and be ready to begin the walk. Our guide will meet you once you have packed your breakfast and lunches and will drive you to Kinigi Headquarters, where you will receive a briefing before beginning the gorilla walk. This brief is completed at 7 a.m. During this briefing, you will be given guidelines before beginning the walk. Because of its unpredictable nature, this gorilla journey might last anywhere from 2 hours to half a day. When you discover the gorillas, keep a 6-meter distance and have one hour to appreciate and photograph them.
After the trip, you will be brought back to your accommodation, where you will unwind and reflect on your experience. You can ask the guide if you want to do another activity in the evening at your own expense, and he will advise you. You will go to the Ibyi’wachu Cultural Visit. Dinner and overnight stay at the same hotel as the night before. Five Volcanoes (luxury), Le Bambou (mid-range), and Muhabura Hotel (budget)
DAY 3: Visit Dian Fossey Camp & Transfer Back to Kigali.
You will have breakfast before heading to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund’s Elle DeGeneres Campus in Kinigi. Take a tour of the facility’s classrooms, exhibit hall, and research facilities. You will discover more about Dian Fossey’s study and how it has helped significantly to the protection of mountain gorillas in Rwanda. After lunch, continue your journey back to Kigali, where your driver guide will drop you off at a hotel of your choosing or Kigali International Airport for your return trip home.
