7 Days Explore Rwanda Tour
Day 1: Arrive in Kigali.
Following your arrival, our company representative and guide will greet you and transfer you to your hotel in Kigali OR, depending on your arrival time, you will enjoy a brief tour of Kigali city, including Kimironko market and the Genocide memorials, before returning to the hotel for dinner and overnight at Step Town Motel (Budget)/ Des Milles Collines Hotel (Middle Range).
Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park and the Ihema Boat Cruise.
Have breakfast and proceed to Akagera National Park, where you will arrive in time for lunch at the lodge before embarking on an afternoon boat trip on Lake Ihema, where you can view hippopotamuses, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species that reside in the lake and adjacent swamps. Dinner and overnight: Akagera Game Lodge (Midrange) / Akagera Transit Lodge (Budget).
Day 3: Early morning game drive and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
Rise early and go for a game drive, excited to witness the many animals that rise early to graze and predators searching for their early morning meal. After the wildlife drive, return to the lodge to freshen up before departing for Volcanoes National Park, stopping for lunch along the way and arriving in Ruhengeri in the evening. You will visit Ibyi’wacu Village and see incredible dancing and singing performances by the local intore dance team. Dinner and overnight stay at Muhabura Hotel (Budget) or Le Bambou (Middle Range).
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda.
Wake up early for breakfast and proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing and distribution of Gorilla trekking groups. Later, you’ll go to the chilly and foggy wooded slopes of Virunga National Park for your gorilla trekking adventure. The trip can last anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the activity of the gorillas, and if you discover them, you will have one hour to see and photograph them before exiting the jungle.
Meet your driver/guide and head back to the resort for lunch. If you’re feeling strong, consider going for a village nature walk. Dinner and overnight stay at Muhabura Gorilla Hotel (Budget) or Le Bambou (Midrange), as described above.

Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe.
Breakfast will be provided early, followed by a transport to Nyungwe Forest National Park, with a stopover at Lake Kivu in Kibuye and lunch on route. While in Lake Kivu, you may take a boat trip around the lake before driving to Nyungwe, where you will arrive in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Gisakura Guesthouse (Budget) or Nyungwe Top Hill View Hotel (Midrange).
Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk.
Enjoy breakfast and attend a briefing before entering the forest to look for lively and playful companions in Nyungwe forest. Chimpanzees are simple to detect because they hop from one tree to another while talking and laughing. Chimp tracking typically takes roughly three hours. You’ll then return to your lodging for lunch. After lunch, you will take a walking route to the Canopy Walk, which is a 50-meter-long swing bridge strung between enormous trees. You’ll be able to observe the magnificent jungle from above, observing wildlife as it moves about below. You will return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay at Gisakura Guesthouse (Budget)/Nyungwe Top Hill View Hotel (Midrange), as described above.
Day 7: Coffee Tour, Return to Kigali, and Departure
Enjoy breakfast at leisure before returning to Huye for a coffee tour at the Huye Mountain Coffee Cooperative. You will have a guided tour and discover how coffee is cultivated, picked, processed, and packaged. Have lunch and then transfer back to Kigali. If the city tour is not feasible on the day of your arrival, you will receive a quick city tour before being sent to the airport for your onwards journey.
