11 days Uganda cultural and wildlife safaris : An 11-day cultural tour of Western Uganda offers a captivating blend of stunning landscapes, rich traditions, and vibrant local cultures. From the lush tea plantations to the scenic crater lakes, and from encounters with the Batwa people to exploring ancient kingdoms, this tour is a journey into the heart of Western Uganda’s heritage.

Itinerary

Day 1 – ARRIVE – ENTEBBE
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport where you will be met by our representative who will transfer you to your homestead for an overnight.

Day 2 – ENTEBBE – KIBALE, Fort Portal Area

Check out of the hotel after breakfast and we Start an early drive to make the most of your day. The drive to Fort Portal is approximately 300 km (186 miles) and takes about 5-6 hours. Travel via the Kampala-Mubende-Fort Portal highway, a scenic route that offers glimpses of rural Ugandan life and beautiful landscapes.

We reach around lunchtime, have lunch with warm local welcome with traditional dances, songs before we check in our lodge. Afternoon start our cultural experience with direct involvement in different home activities at the homestead

Day 3 -BIGODI SWAMP WALK AND TINKA’S FARM
At leisure with optional Chimpanzee tracking for those who are interested in primates will be picked early and transfer to the tracking point for briefing before they enter in to the forest. The main activity of the day is Bigodi swamp walk dominated by not only birds but also primates. The exciting part is join the community at Bigodi who mostly are women in their craft activities, weaving and others.

Return to our lodge for lunch and get more involvement in cultural activities at Tinkas home. This includes weaving, poetry, Brewing and many other daily activities at home.

Day 4 -TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NP VISIT KATARA WOMEN

Check out of the lodge and drive to Queen Elizabeth NP, we visit the famous Katara women’s group for the unique cultural practices. Enjoy the classic dances, hand to work activities like weaving, tailoring, crafting and many others. Have lunch as you test the delicious local foods like Luwombo. After lunch go for evening game drive in search for the big game and other wildlife.

Day 5 – ISHASHA – DEO’s HOME

Transferring from Katara Women’s Project to the Ishasha Sector in Queen Elizabeth National Park is a relatively straightforward journey. Have your delicious breakfast served early, drive to the southern part of Queen Elizabeth Np. This is a home of the tree climbing lions, we will have a game drive insearch for the big game before we proceed to Deo’s homestead for our lunch. Do farm visit and other local activities before we drive to our lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 -ISHASHA – BUHOMA BWINDI

Do an early morning game drive in Ishasha to search for the tree climbing lions and other game. After the game drive we transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National park. check in at the lodge and in the evening go for the batwa walk.

Day 7 – RIDE FOR A WOMAN

Have hand at work with direct involvement of daily community/home activities. You will have optional Gorilla tracking at extra cost of $800. Spend entire day in community activities

Day 8 -TRANSFER TO LAKE BUNYONYI

After our breakfast, drive to Lake Buyonyi where the boat a waiting for you to transfer you to the lodge in the Island of Lake Buyonyi. Enjoy the classic views of the lake and visit local communities around the Island

Day 9 – A DAY WITH THE PEOPLE AROUND LAKE BUNYONYI

Visit the local communities at the Island and hand great local experience on culture. You will be involved on the daily activities of a local home.

Day 10 – BUNYONYI TO EMBURARA FARM LODGE

Our main activities at Emburara Farm revolve around the life of the treasured Ankole longhorned cattle.

Depending on the time of day you would like to have your experience, our resident tour guide will advise what activities you can take part in. This is because we follow the cows natural pattern from waking-up to going to sleep.

Day 11 – DEPARTURE

Check out of the lodge and drive to Entebbe International Airport for your flight.
