3 Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari from Kigali
Detailed itinerary.
Day One: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Depending on your location in Kigali, on the first day of the three-day gorilla trekking safari in Uganda from Kigali, you will be greeted by our driving guide, who will brief you on the safari before taking you on a short city tour that includes visits to the Kigali Genocide and the Kimironko market, among other places. Following the city tour, you will depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which takes around 4 to 5 hours to reach either the Cyanika border in Kisoro or the Katuna border in Kabale. Lunch will be served on route. Along the route, you will get wonderful views of Rwanda’s rolling hills, terraced farmlands, and gorgeous countryside. Upon arriving in the park, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Ruhija gorilla mist camp (midrange) or Broadbill forest camp (budget).
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park
After an early breakfast on the second day of your three-day gorilla trekking safari in Uganda from Kigali, you will carry a packed lunch from the accommodation and meet your driver guide to proceed to the park headquarters for an orientation. Following the briefing, you will begin hiking in the forest in search of mountain gorillas, which will take between 2 and 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are situated because they prefer to migrate from one location to another in quest of food. During the walk, you will be able to see additional monkey species, numerous plant species, and birds, among others. Once the mountain gorillas are located, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their natural environment, allowing you to examine their routines and behaviours, watch gorillas feed, snap photographs, and film the magnificent moments to show individuals back home after the safari.
After the one-hour encounter with the gentle giants, you will return to the park headquarters where you will be rewarded with a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking. You will then meet your driver guide for an Optional Batwa cultural tour, during which you will be able to interact with the Batwa, learn about their culture, traditions, and way of life, visit their homesteads, listen to their ancient stories, and enjoy their traditional performances, among other activities. Following the cultural trip, you will return to the lodge for dinner and slumber, as described above.
Day 3: Depart to Kigali
After a leisurely breakfast on the final day of your three-day gorilla trekking safari in Uganda from Kigali, you will check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide to begin your trip back. On the journey, you will stop for lunch and take in the breathtaking surroundings, including Kigezi hills, traditional homesteads, and terraced farmlands. Upon arrival, our driver guide will transport you off at Kigali International Airport for your departure flight or at any other destination as advised.
