5 Days Chimpanzee Trekking and Wildlife Safari
Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale national park
Depending on your location on the first day of the 5-day chimpanzee trekking and wildlife safari, our driving guide will pick you up, educate you about the safari, and then begin the travel to Kibale Forest National Park in western Uganda. The drive takes around 5 to 6 hours, and along the way, you will stop for lunch in Fort Portal and experience breathtaking views of the gorgeous countryside, terrain, tea plantation, Rwenzori Mountains, and crater lakes, among other sights. Upon arriving at Kibale National Park, you will check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Kibale Forest Lodge-budget.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
On the second day of the 5-day chimp trekking and wildlife safari, after an early breakfast, the driver guide will pick you up from the lodge and transport you to the Kanyachu park headquarters for a chimp trek briefing. Following the briefing, you will begin walking through the jungle in search of chimpanzees, which will take between 2 and 4 hours depending on their location. Once the chimps are located, you will be permitted to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat, where you will be able to view them feeding, playing, fighting, hunting, resting, observing their behaviours, taking photographs, and recording movies. After the one-hour interaction with the chimps, you will return to the park headquarters to meet your driving guide before returning to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide for a trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s second largest park. On the journey, you will enjoy amazing views of the wildlife and surroundings, and when you get in the park, you will check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at the Queen Elizabeth Safari Lodge (budget).
Day 3: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
On the third day of the 5-day chimp trekking and wildlife safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains, where you will be able to spot various animals such as elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, Uganda kobs, and waterbucks grazing in open savannah plains, as well as predators such as lions, leopards, and hyenas if you are lucky, and bird species, among others. After the wildlife drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will have an exciting boat tour on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. During the 2- to 3-hour boat trip, you will be able to see vast herds of hippos and Nile crocodiles in the water, as well as buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, and waterbucks drinking along the banks, as well as water birds like as hornbills, cormorants, fish eagles, and kingfishers, among others. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for an evening of leisure, dinner , and overnight stay, as described above.

Day 4: Game drive in Ishasha sector and transfer to Lake Mburo national park
On the fourth day of your five-day safari, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide for a game drive in the Ishasha sector, where you will be able to see tree climbing lions lying up in acacia/fig tree branches if you are lucky, as well as other animals such as elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, hippos and some bird species, among others. After the wildlife drive in the Ishasha region, you will have en-route lunch and then continue to Lake Mburo National Park, where you will check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Eagles Nest-budget.
Day 5: Morning game drive and departure to Kampala
On the last day of the safari, you will eat breakfast, check out of the lodge and then meet with your driving guide for a morning game drive to see creatures such as buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, impalas, waterbucks, topis and warthogs, among others. After the wildlife drive, you will leave the park and begin your journey back to Kampala, stopping for lunch at the Equator to buy souvenirs and take photographs before continuing on to Kampala, arriving early evening. Upon arrival, your driving guide will drop you off to Entebbe International Airport for your departing flight or at any other location as advised.
