10 Days Best of Uganda safari

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to a hotel in Entebbe

Depending on your arrival time at Entebbe international airport on day 1 of the ten-day best of Uganda safari, you will be greeted by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari before transferring to a hotel in Entebbe for dinner and overnight stay at Cycad guest house-budget/Best western hotel-midrange.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park.

On day 2 of the 10-day best of Uganda safari, after breakfast, our driver guide will pick you up from the hotel and take you to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest national park. The travel takes roughly 5 to 6 hours and includes a detour at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking, followed by another stopover in Masindi for lunch. After lunch, you will go to Murchison Falls National Park and drive immediately to the top of the falls to observe the cascade and experience water splashes, among other things. From the falls, you will travel to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Parkside Safari lodge (cheap) or Pakuba Safari Lodge (midrange).

Day 3: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

On day 3 of the 10-day best of Uganda safari, after an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge for a morning game drive, where you will be rewarded with stunning views of animals such as giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, lions, leopards, warthogs, and Jackson’s hartebeest. After the game drive, you’ll return to the lodge for supper and stay.

After lunch, you will take an exciting boat cruise to the bottom of the falls, where you will be able to see animals such as elephants, antelopes, and buffaloes drinking water along the shores, as well as hippos and Nile crocodiles in the water and aquatic bird species such as hornbills, cormorants, kingfishers, bee-eaters, and fish eagles. After the intriguing boat tour, you will return to the lodge for an evening of leisure, dinner, and overnight stay, as described above.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale national park

On day 4 of the 10-day best of Uganda safari, after breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide to begin your journey to Kibale Forest National Park in Western Uganda. It’s a full-day tour with en-route lunch and breathtaking views of the lovely landscapes, terrain, tea plantations, Rwenzori Mountains, and crater lakes, among other things. Upon arrival at Kibale National Park, you will proceed to check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Kibale Safari Lodge.-budget / Chimpanzee Guest House-midrange

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

On day 5 of the 10-day best of Uganda safari, after an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge and transport you to the Kanyachu park headquarters for a chimp trekking orientation. Following the briefing, you will begin hiking into the jungle in search of chimpanzees. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park takes between 30 minutes and 4 hours, depending on where the chimps are located, and you will be rewarded with views of other primates and many bird species. Once the chimps are located, you will be permitted to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat, where you will be able to view them feeding, playing, fighting, hunting, resting, observing their behaviors, taking photographs, and recording movies. After the one-hour interaction with the chimps, you will return to the park headquarters to meet your driving guide before returning to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide for a trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s second largest park. On the way, you will enjoy spectacular views of the scenery and landscape, and once in the park, you will go on an evening game drive where you will be rewarded with views of animals such as elephants, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, waterbucks, bushbucks, warthogs, and others as they return to their resting areas. After the wildlife drive, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Queen Elizabeth Safari Lodge (budget) or Elephant Hab (midrange).

Day 6: Morning game drive/ optional lion tracking experience and afternoon boat cruise

On day 6 of the 10-day best of Uganda safari, after breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the resort for a morning game drive on the Kasenyi plains. During the game drive, you will be able to see elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, Uganda kobs, and waterbucks grazing on broad savannah plains, as well as predators such as lions, leopards, and hyenas out for a morning hunt, and many bird species. After the wildlife drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will go on an interesting boat cruise on the Kazinga channel, a water channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George, where you will be able to see large herds of hippos and Nile crocodiles in the water, buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, waterbucks drinking water along the shores, and water birds such as hornbills, cormorants, fish eagles, and kingfishers, among others. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for an evening of leisure, dinner , and overnight stay as described above.

Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

On day 7 of the 10-day best of Uganda safari, you will have a leisurely breakfast before checking out of the lodge and meeting your driver guide for the travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. On the route, you will stop in Ishasha sector, in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park, to see the famed tree climbing lions, who will be peacefully reclining up on acacia and fig tree branches. After the wildlife drive in Ishasha sector, you will have lunch and then continue the travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you will check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Buhoma Community Rest Camp-budget/Buhoma Haven Lodge-midrange.

Day 8: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park

On day 8 of the 10-day best of Uganda safari, you will pack a lunch and meet your driver guide at the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. Following the briefing, you will begin hiking in the forest in search of mountain gorillas, which can take anything from 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where the gorillas are situated because they prefer to migrate from one location to another in quest of food.
During trekking, you will be able to see other primate species, birds, and plants, among other things, and once the mountain gorillas are located, you will be able to spend an hour with them in their natural habitat, observing their behaviours, watching them go about their daily activities, taking photos, and recording videos. Following the one-hour experience with the gentle giants, you will return to the lodge for leisure, dinner, and overnight stay as described above.

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park

On the ninth day of the safari, after breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide for the travel to Lake Mburo National Park. On the trip, you will see breathtaking views of the terrain, landscapes, farmlands, and countryside, among other things. Upon arrival, you will settle into the lodge for lunch before embarking on an evening game drive to see various creatures like as buffaloes, oribi, waterbucks, giraffes, zebras and topi. After the wildlife drive, you will travel back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Eagles Nest lodge (budget) or Arcadia Cottages (midrange).

Day 10: Morning game drive and departure to Kampala

On the final day of your 10-day best of Uganda safari, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and then meet with your driver guide for a morning game drive where you will be able to see creatures that you may have missed the day before. After the wildlife drive, you’ll leave the park and begin your journey back to Kampala. On the journey, you’ll stop at the Equator for lunch, photographs, and artisan goods. From the Equator, you will travel to Kampala, arriving early in the evening, where your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight or at any other destination advised.
